Marketing Internships

Objective: Present the Seattle Tempest and the Seattle Cascades to the wide community of prospective fans. This includes reaching ultimate players and other people across various age groups and communities in the Seattle area. An excellent job will drive the Tempest and Cascades brands and increase attendance at our home games.

While our Marketing Internships span a variety of topics, we keep these goals in focus. (A) Work on projects that contribute real value to Tempest and Cascades. (B) Gain experience that is educational, enjoyable, and a potential career stepping stone.

Responsibilities: collaborate with General Manager to select roughly three projects from this list.

1. Partnerships: reach select organizations with ticket offers for group outings. Drive attendance and build our fan base.

2. Youth outreach: visit youth ultimate practices & games around the city. On occasion, you will be joined by Casey the Sasquatch!

3. Marketing field work: visit your favorite coffee shops, restaurants, and pubs and pitch to small business owners/managers. Gift them posters, schedule cards and ticket vouchers.

4. Digital advertising: grow Tempest and Cascades fan base by targeting select audiences with compelling content. Get creative to drive engagement with prospective fans.

5. Fan demographics research. Develop methods to answer the below questions, and test theories by putting them into action.
-- Who comes to our games, and why?
-- What is the optimal ticket price?
-- Which marketing campaigns drive the most home game attendance?

On game day: support an amazing home game experience by helping out with a combination of Production, Operations, and Social Media.

Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of sports.
- Competency with Google online software: Documents, Spreadsheets, Forms.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently.
- Team-focused mentality, cooperative.

Internship details:
- 10-20 weeks, depending on time of year.
- 10-20 hours per week.
- Weekend commitments: at least two thirds of our home games in Memorial Stadium.
- Compensation commensurate with experience and workload.
- Stipend delivered at midpoint of internship.

Media Internships

Objective: Create relevant and interesting content for the Tempest and Cascades fan base and Seattle community at large. Present the team and organization in a positive light while maintaining journalistic integrity. Freedom to experiment with various forms and styles of media.

While our Media Internships span a variety of topics, we keep these goals in focus. (A) Work on projects that contribute real value to Tempest and Cascades. (B) Gain experience that is educational, enjoyable, and a potential career stepping stone.

Responsibilities:

1. Media features each week.
-- Topics such as: player highlights, team members taking action in the community, advertisements for upcoming games, etc.
-- Mediums include website, social media channels, and earned media outlets.
-- Assignments approved by Media Manager; some flexibility and autonomy.

2. Home game coverage.
-- Micro-content for immediate release.
-- Social media engagement.
-- Player & coach interviews - gather quotes, gain perspectives, etc.

Qualifications:
- A passion for media in written, visual, or video form. Willingness to adapt style.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently.
- Team-focused mentality, cooperative.
- Knowledge of ultimate and pro sports is not necessary, but a plus.

Internship details:
- 10-20 weeks, depending on time of year.
- 5-10 hours per week.
- Weekend commitments: at least two thirds of our home games in Memorial Stadium.
