Media Manager

Objectives

Present Seattle Tempest and Seattle Cascades to a variety of prospective fans. This includes reaching people who are familiar with ultimate and those who have never heard of it. The end goal is to grow the Tempest and Cascades brands and increase attendance at our home games.

The work includes developing media campaigns, creating content, and managing our social media platforms. The work is collaborative, as our media team must work cohesively to focus on multiple brands throughout the Western Ultimate League and American Ultimate Disc League seasons.

Also, you'll play a key role on game days at Memorial Stadium, under the Space Needle!

Responsibilities

Content Creation & Management

Create and curate media that speaks to our Team Identities and Season Narratives. This includes attention to our current media channels: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, websites, and email newsletters.

Amplify the actions and voices of our players in order to spark genuine connections between us and our fans. All the while, channel our Season Narrative and maintain an appropriate amount of consistency across mediums.

Manage our posting schedule with an eye for volume, timing, and execution of campaigns goals. Take into account best practices established in prior years, and develop a content management process that works well for everyone on the Marketing Team.

Collaborate with the Marketing Team to evolve our Tempest & Cascades media Narratives as the season progresses. Balance 'planning' and 'executing' so that we are moving forward but while remaining flexible.

Contribute to building our Marketing Plan; cooperate with Marketing Team to make adjustments as we proceed through the year. Execute select Marketing Campaigns.

Game Day

Help with some stadium set up tasks and then play a key role in our game day staff. Opportunity to maintain a consistent role throughout the season or move around in order to gain broader eperience. Execute some media responsibilities immediately after each game.

Qualifications

- Reasonable knowledge of professional sports industry; familiarity with ultimate frisbee.
- Desire to engage with current and future Tempest-Cascades fans.
- Competency with Google online software: Documents, Spreadsheets, Forms.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently.
- Team-focused mentality, cooperative.
- Skills: writing, storytelling, artistic eye.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop.

Job details

Commitment: January - July

20 hours per week, with opportunity to expand workload and responsibilities up to 40hrs/week, depending on performance and circumstances.

Mostly remote work; occasional meetings scheduled ahead of time (virtual or in-person); game day work at Memorial Stadium.

Report to General Manager. Interact with other Media Team members, coaches, players, and a many outside entities.

Independent Contractor position; W2 issued in January for reporting 2023 income.

Required paperwork: NDA, W9.

Compensation commesurate with experience and depeding on time commitment.
