DETAILS:
Pro Academy is back! Seattle Tempest (WUL) and Seattle Cascades (UFA) are hosting an overnight ultimate camp beside Fort Casey on Whidbey Island. We'll play ultimate, enjoy a variety of other activities, sleep in the bunk rooms, and eat in the Camp Casey cafeteria.
This camp is for high school juniors and seniors as well as rising college freshman. We'll be running high end instruction to prepare participants for a future in competitive ultimate, like the WUL (Western Ultimate League) and UFA (Ultimate Frisbee Association).
Top notch WUL and UFA player-coaches will take the lead on the the latest training techniques to prepare campers for professional ultimate some day.
Players will sometimes drill and scrimmage in mixed gender format and sometimes according to Bx division or Gx Division groupings. In some cases, we'll divide by skill/experience, with multiple mixed gender groups.
This camp starts on Sunday, runs all week, and ends on Saturday. It will be run as a separate division of the Overnight Camp which will be taking place concurrently for grades 6th-10th.
Aside from the ultimate, we'll do a bunch of activities - disc golf, beach forts, forest walks, scavenger hunts, campfire + s'mores, and more. There's even a rumor that the Camp Casey pool will reopen during the Summer of 2025!
Registration is open to students entering 11th grade up to students who have just finished 12th grade. All genders welcome, including players who compete in the girls division, boys division, and mixed division.
Coaches will be WUL (eg Seattle Tempest) and UFA (eg Seattle Cascades) professional players. At all times, there will be a first aid & CPR certified coach on site.
Each day of camp, we run an age-appropriate workshop on either a Social Justice issue or a Social Emotional Learning topic.
