What makes PRO ACADEMY different from any other ultimate camp?

  • Best professional player-coaches in the country as leads
  • Access to other professional players via Zoom
  • Emphasis on professional approach to ultimate
  • Measurables
  • Introduction to strength training
  • Film study + discussions
  • DEI discussions with a focus on the professional experience and how it positively/negatively impacts equitable outcomes for players
  • Educate campers on various operational roles within professional ultimate network
  • Filmed games + exposure on WUL/UFA social networks (YouTube; Instagram)

My child is a rising sophomore but really wants to attend the professional portion of this camp, what are my options?

  • Option A: Your child can attend the Professional Ultimate Academy in Grand Rapids, MI on July 14-19th which is open to participants ages 15-18.
  • Option B: Your child can attend Seattle Ultimate 6th-10th grade division of the same camp.

What skill level does my child need to be to attend?

  • While there is no hard and fast rule we recommend your child have played at least 2 years of organized ultimate and is aspiring to be a “YCC” level player.

How do I get my child to Whidbey Island?

  • It’s a 3-hr drive from Seattle which includes a ferry ride in the middle. Local participants will be expected to drive, out-of-state participants should plan on arriving at SEA airport by 5pm on Sunday, August 11th and they will be transported via passenger van. They will be returned to SEA airport by 1pm on Saturday, August 17th.

Will gameplay be mixed or single gender?

  • We will incorporate both types of play throughout the camp as we believe both are valuable. In some cases, we'll divide by skill/experience, with multiple mixed gender groups. Meanwhile, we expect to have at least 15 FMP and 15 MMPs so we have the option of training separately as well.

Who will be coaching the program?

  • Specific coaches will be announced in early 2024 but they will be strong professional players who have also demonstrated a history of working with youth in their local communities.

Where will campers stay?

  • Camp Casey is a retired military base with an impressive row of bunk rooms. We'll be in dorm-style housing, with 1-2 campers in each room and bathrooms on each floor.
  • As it stands, the plan is to have mixed gender floors and assign/organize rooms upon arrival at Camp Casey. Roommate requests-preferences are welcome; we'll save time to communicate about it and we'll do our best to accommodate.

  • Enjoy homemade buffet-style meals served at the Mess Hall by the Camp Casey dining services: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
